Tramadol 200mg HCL
Tramadol hydrochloride is a medication used to treat mild to moderately severe levels of pain. It is generally prescribed by the doctors to treat the patients who suffer from chronic pain day and night. Tramadol is has different brand names in different countries such as Ultram in the US, Ralivia in Canada, etc. The medication has a wide range of cures such as restless legs syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and motor neuron disease. Tramadol HCl is a mild opioid analgesic, a reuptake inhibitor of norepinephrine, and a serotonin releaser.
Tramadol HCl may also be used for treating other disorders that are not mentioned here. Tramadol belongs to the family of medications called as analgesic drugs.
How to Use
Tramadol HCl is same as the other narcotic analgesics. The actual working mechanism of the Tramadol 100mg HCl is still unknown, but it is believed that it works in the brain by altering how your body feels and react to the pain.
This medication is to be taken by mouth and as prescribed by your doctor. Usually the medication is prescribed to be taken every 4 to 6 hours or according to the severity of pain. You can take Tramadol 100mg HCl with or without food. It is advisable to take this medication along with food by the patients who have nausea. Ask your pharmacist or doctor about some other ways to diminish nausea (for example lying down for 1 to 2 hours accompanied with possible little head movements).
The dosage level will be based on your medical conditions and response to the medication. In order to reduce the risk of side effects, your doctor may suggest you to start with lower dose levels and gently increase the dose. You must carefully follow all the instructions given by your doctor. The maximum recommended dose level of Tramadol HCl is 400 mg per day. If you are above 75 years of age, then the maximum dose recommended for you is 300 mg per day. Do not alter the dose on your own, take it for a longer period than prescribed, or take the drug more often. Properly discontinue the medication when your doctor asks you to do so.
Pain relief medications work best, of they are used at the very beginning stage of the pain. If you allow the pain to get worse, the medication may unable to cure the pain.
If you have any ongoing pain (such as a pain caused by arthritis) your doctor may suggest you to take a long acting narcotic drug. Other non-soporific pain killers (such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen) may also be suggested along with this medication. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you are not clear with using Tramadol 100mg HCl safely and effectively with other drugs.
Tramadol HCl medication may cause back down reactions, particularly if it has been used frequently in high doses or for a long time. In such instances, withdrawal symptoms (such as runny nose, muscle aches, restlessness, nausea, watering eyes, sweating) may occur if you abruptly quit using this medication. In order to prevent this, your doctor may decrease your dose level gently. Consult your pharmacist or doctor for more information, and inform any withdrawal reactions immediately.
This medication may not work well, when used for a longer time period. Consult with your doctor if this medication stops working well.
Along with its beneficial things, this drug may become a habit (drug addiction). The risk of addiction may become high if you have used street drugs or alcohols in the past. You must take this medication only as prescribed by your doctor to avoid the risk of addiction.
Inform your doctor if the pain gets worsen or continues to persist while taking this medication. Your doctor may change your dose or prescribe an alternative pain relief medication.
